DESCRIPTION:\nSpecial education evaluations are a crucial first step in the special education process for a student with a disability. The evaluation’s purpose is to determine if a student is eligible for special education services and identify their strengths and learning obstacles.\n\n\n\nThis presentation covers assessments, evaluations, and reevaluations and how the results of the evaluations are captured in “Present Levels of Performance” as a starting place of benchmark to when writing goals and objectives when developing individualized education plans(IEP) as well as 504 plans. \n\n\n\nLearning objectives include: \n\n\n\n\nEvaluations for non-speaking or non-verbal students or students with challenging & disruptive behaviors\n\n\n\nHow to formally request evaluations\n\n\n\nHow to tie evaluations to developing effective and measurable goals\n\n\n\n\nWhat to do if the school’s evaluation missed critical components that may have an adverse impact on the educators getting a clear picture of your student’s needs across multiple domains (social emotional learning, academics, small group or peer participation, etc.) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented by one of Washington’s leading special education attorneys focused on high-impact, meaningful work (legal and non-legal) that emphasizes capacity-building strategies for positive social change.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis training workshop will be held via Zoom.
