About Us

Washington Autism Alliance (WAA) serves as a personal advocate and legislative champion for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities. As a nonprofit, WAA works to bridge the gap between health and education policies to bring potent interventions to families in Washington state, regardless of socioeconomic status.

WAA provides family navigation and legal advocacy to more than 1,030 Washington families per year so they can access effective autism and disability services. We serve hundreds more per year through support groups, peer social communication portals for children and adults with ASD/IDD, training, and events. We also advocate for legislation that strengthens health and education resources for people with ASD/IADD.

During the pandemic, we’re increasing support to families through multiple means, including outreach through community- and faith-based organizations; regular connections with providers to best support families’ access to services; and collaboration with OSPI to support children’s ongoing access to diagnosis, special education, and support.
