Our certified speech language pathologists serve children from birth through age 21. We treat a range of disabilities including speech/language impairment, developmental disabilities, autism, genetic syndromes, hearing loss, sensory integration and feeding problems.
We offer comprehensive evaluations and on-going therapy in a friendly, child-centered manner. Our goal is to help every child develop communication skills during a time of fun, play-based therapy. Family involvement is strongly encouraged for on-going development of skills in the home environment.
About Us
Connections Speech Language Pathology was founded in 2000 by Melissa Bartel, CCC-SLP, who saw the need for better access to speech therapy services in Whatcom County.
Having worked in both school and hospital settings, Melissa had the desire to manage her own clinic where she could truly meet the needs of children and their families. She began as a solo practitioner, and her clinic has steadily grown to include several SLPs and assistants.
Today, Connections SLP provides outstanding services to children in our clinic as well as local preschools and childcare facilities who contract with us to provide services on site.
How do I know if speech therapy is covered by my insurance?
Parents may contact our office, provide insurance information, and give us permission to contact their insurance company regarding eligibility. Parents might also contact their insurance company directly, or consult their plan benefit book.
