Rachel Sugar, Associate. Rachel has advocated for equity and justice with marginalized groups for years. Prior to joining Cedar Law PLLC, Rachel was a staff attorney with Tacomaprobono’s Housing Justice Project, where she defended low-income tenants from evictions.
Rachel graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in 2022. During her time in law school, Rachel worked with organizations including Legal Voice, Disability Rights Washington, and ACLU of Washington, where she advocated for economic justice for domestic workers, access to education resources for students during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and access to safe housing for people experiencing homelessness. She also was honored as the Justice Mary Fairhurst Public Interest Foundation Grantee, which funded her work with the ACLU of Washington.
Prior to law school, Rachel earned a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from University of Puget Sound and later worked with survivors of domestic violence and their children at the YWCA of Pierce County. Rachel recently was awarded with the Young Logger Service award in 2024, and is grateful to continue serving her community at Cedar Law PLLC.
Rachel brings warmth and a trauma-informed approach to her work with clients. Rachel’s commitment to justice informs her approach to education law and hopes to both serve individuals in accessing equitable outcomes for their families and use the law as a tool to create a more just educational landscape for all.
