Types of Service<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fixed Route<\/strong><\/a>s<\/strong>\u00a0provide service to designated bus stops using large transit buses.\u00a0\u00a0All fixed route buses are wheelchair accessible.\u00a0\u00a0For route and schedule information call (360) 676-7433, or use the Trip Planner on the home page.<\/p>\n

Specialized Transportation<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0offers curb-to-curb service for passengers unable to access\u00a0WTA\u2019s fixed route services due to a physical or mental disability.\u00a0\u00a0Rides must be reserved by 5 pm on the day before you intend to travel.\u00a0\u00a0In order to ride Specialized Transportation,\u00a0you must first call WTA to establish\u00a0your eligibility according to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.\u00a0\u00a0Call (360) 733-1144 for more information.<\/p>\n

Flex Service<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is a hybrid between fixed route and Specialized Transportation.\u00a0\u00a0Flex buses serve fixed bus stops along their route but also \u201cflex\u201d off the route to pick up and drop off passengers closer to their starting place or destination.\u00a0\u00a0Flexing occurs within a designated service area.\u00a0\u00a0There are no eligibility requirements for using Flex service; anyone within the designated area can request a flex trip.\u00a0\u00a0Requests must be made at least two hours in advance or by 5 pm the day before for morning service.\u00a0\u00a0Call (360) 733-1144 to schedule a flex trip.<\/p>\n

Safety Net\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>provides limited transportation service to the rural areas of Whatcom County.\u00a0\u00a0There are no eligibility requirements for using Safety Net service; anyone within the designated area can request a Safety Net trip.\u00a0\u00a0Service is only available to each Safety Net Zone on certain days of the week.\u00a0\u00a0Click here<\/a>\u00a0for a Safety Net Service Area Map.\u00a0Rides must be requested by 5 pm the day before for morning service.\u00a0\u00a0Call (360) 733-1144 to schedule a Safety Net trip.

\nVanpool<\/strong><\/a>s<\/strong>\u00a0allow groups of people to \u201clease\u201d a WTA-owned passenger van for the purpose of commuting to a common location.\u00a0\u00a0Vanpool fares are based on the number of round trip miles used in daily travel.\u00a0\u00a0For information on existing vanpools, or about starting a new vanpool, call (360) 752-4596.<\/p>\n

Rideshare O<\/strong>nline<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0provides assistance in matching potential carpool partners.\u00a0\u00a0The Rideshare program serves all counties along the I-5 corridor and is available online throughwww.rideshareonline.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
