WAAA is celebrating a recent win! Within the last few months, Evangeline assisted a client with filing his own appeal. The insurance company issued a notice to the client that it had overpaid him in thousands of dollars -- money that the insurance company was originally reimbursing with regards to the client’s ABA services. Without the insurance company’s reimbursement, the client faced the prospect of paying back money he no longer had. Understandably, he was very worried about how he could get the insurance company to reverse its claim for reimbursement and how he could get his ABA services covered in the future.
With Evangeline’s assistance, the client navigated the insurance company’s appeal process and drafted his own first-level appeal. Fortunately, the insurance company withdrew the notice of overpayment shortly after the appeal was filed. In its letter to the client, the insurance company declared that the appeal was researched and that its original recovery letter was erroneous. Therefore, the client did not owe the insurance company any money. WAAA is very excited about this win because not only did the client save thousands of dollars, but he accomplished this through his own self-advocacy! Evangeline hopes to continue helping her clients through compassionate advocacy and affect positive changes in their lives.
