Initial Assessments, evaluations, reevaluations, IEEs
The special education process is like building a house. There is a logical order to both. This presentation covers assessments, evaluations, and reevaluations and how the results of the evaluations are captured in “Present Levels of Performance” as a starting place of benchmark to when writing goals & objectives. Learning objectives include:
- Evaluations for non-speaking or non-verbal students or students with challenging & disruptive behaviors
- How to formally request evaluations
- How to tie evaluations to developing effective and measurable goals
What to do if the school’s evaluation missed critical components that may have an adverse impact on the educators getting a clear picture of your student’s needs across multiple domains (social emotional learning, academics, small group or peer participation, etc.)
