
Autistic Burnout vs. Depression
When autistic patients present depression symptoms, it could be something else. Autistic burnout is a term for the effects of overwhelm over a long period for neurodivergent people due to masking autistic traits. Autistic Burnout is internal and in many ways is the opposite of depression. It may especially affect autistic adults who have strong cognitive and language abilities and are working or going to school with neurotypical people.
