Every summer I enjoy watching America’s Got Talent with my family. 

This week a new contestant caught my attention.  Lavender Darcangelo is such a talented singer.  She is also blind and autistic. 

Shows like this giving members of the autistic community an opportunity to showcase their talents is so important.  I am able to sit with my 8 year old autistic child and he can see neurodiverse people like him on television.  On the flip side, neurotypical people all over this country are able to see a member of the autism community and get a glimpse of what they are capable of. 

I know I’ll be tuning in this season to see how far Lavender can go in America’s Got Talent, will you?
