<|PROGRESS||0||500|>WEST SEATTLE SPECTRUM FAMILIES & WHY WE ARE RAISING FUNDS

I started “West Seattle Spectrum Families” to create a community for families like ours in West Seattle living with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other related conditions.

In our family of four children, three of them have now been diagnosed with ASD. When we moved to West Seattle almost 3 years ago we had a very hard time finding resources, inclusive recreational activities, friends, and families to connect with. The families we found near us in West Seattle were also in need of the same I realized.

Having facilitated ASD Support and Playgroups in our hometown of Tucson, AZ.
I decided to continue a similar group here. Over the last year, our group has grown to many families. We host Park Playdates, Family Picnics, a Mom’s Night Out, and the Neighborhood House here in West Seattle is allowing us to use their family room to hold our LEGO Playgroup. We hope to continue these and create more opportunities for West Seattle families in the future!

I am also now working with Washington Autism Alliance & Advocacy as their Resource & Advocacy Coordinator for West Seattle & West King County
to further help families navigate through the medical, educational, and social service process for their children.
