On December 1st 2015, WAAA is holding our Inaugural Luncheon! The “WAAAll of Impact” luncheon event will recognize those that have made a significant difference in lives of those with autism and other developmental disabilities .
We will be honoring
- State Representative Gerry Pollet, the legislative champion for regulating seclusion and restraints in public schools;
- Entire staff of the Governor’s office of Education Ombuds for promoting equity in education by working with families and schools statewide to remove barriers to an effective public education.
- Microsoft as the corporate champion for the autism employment pilot project.
Your attendance and support goes a long way to show these community champions how much their efforts mean to our community. You will doubly help WAAA in raising funds to expand their services benefiting children and families with Autism and other developmental disorders. Currently, WAAA provides useful but limited volunteer support that can only offer general information for those navigating the education maze. Our goal is to always do more, help more, and to go further by providing customized education advocacy services that can affect measurable change in education outcomes for children with autism. Family by family, student by student, we are trying to ensure that more children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in our state have an equal chance to receive the special education support they are entitled to, so they can thrive and succeed in life.
