The flowers are blooming, we’re seeing fewer rainy days, and people are getting out and enjoying some of the great venues Washington has to offer. Every member of our community should have the opportunity to enjoy touring a museum, visiting a zoo, jumping at a trampoline park, etc. Some people, though, need accommodations such as dimmed lighting, reduced sound volume, etc. to enjoy these activities.
For those that need a more sensory-friendly setting, here are some sensory-friendly events to check out:
Woodland Park Zoo
Zoomazium - Woodland Park Zoo Seattle WA
Fridays in Zoomazium are sensory-friendly. Exhibit lights are adjusted, background noises reduced, along with some other accommodations.
Pacific Science Center
Save the Date: Exploration for All - Pacific Science Center
May 20th, 8-10 am, is a time for families and individuals needing a sensory-friendly experience to visit the Pacific Science Center. This event is free.
Hands-On Children’s Museum
Sensory-Friendly Programs & Guide - Hands On Children's Museum (hocm.org)
Every Sunday, families can come an hour before opening and stay for Art Time in their sensory-friendly room.
KidsQuest Children’s Museum
Low Sensory Visits - KidsQuest Children's Museum (kidsquestmuseum.org)
The first Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7:30 pm KidQuest offers free low sensory evenings. They also offer sensory bags.
Pump It Up

On the first Tuesday of every month, Pump It Up offers sensory-friendly jumping from 6:30-7:45 pm.
Museum of Flight
Sensory Days | The Museum of Flight
Sensory-friendly events offer families an opportunity to enjoy the museum during off-hours. The next event is Sunday, June 25th, 8-10 am. It’s a free event, but registration is required.
Imagine Children’s Museum
During the sensory time, Imagine Children”s Museum provides families access to the North side of the museum from 9-11. This is available for kids 1-12. The next event is May 21st.
Seattle Opera
Seattle Opera - Sensory-Friendly Performance
Earth to Kenzie is being performed on Sunday, June 5th, at 11:00 in a sensory performance. They offer a social storybook and sensory guide, and there are various other accommodations to be sensory-friendly.
