Before law school, Evangeline interned at the Clark County Courthouse, where she quickly realized how bewildering the legal system is to the average person. This sparked her interest to provide clear, accessible legal services and translate legalese into plain language so that people may be best empowered to make their own choices.
Evangeline: Access to Care Staff Attorney at WAAA
While at law school, Evangeline learned to value of compassionate advocacy- that professionalism not only means diligence, but empathy as well. As the Access to Care Staff Attorney at Washington Autism Alliance and Advocacy, Evangeline believes healthcare is a human right and is dedicated to ensuring that everybody has access to the healthcare resources the need. In particular, she is committed to serving underrepresented or marginalized communities. People with autism and other developmental disabilities, just like everyone else, have the right to attain optimal health and to obtain the highest standard of healthcare without discrimination. However, they face greater barriers in accessing the healthcare they need. Thus, Evangeline is very excited for the opportunity to join a team of fierce advocated that have a proven track record of successfully fighting for healthcare coverage and social change.
She hopes to bring both values into her work as the Access to Care Staff attorney so that children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities can obtain the Medicaid benefits that they not only need, but deserve.
