"With the school year coming to an end many parents are looking for activities and camps to keep their kids busy over the summer! You may be wondering where to start to find a camp that can support your child’s needs.
There are different options depending on your child’s interests, needs, age and where you live.
Here, we’ll break down a few different pathways to find the right fit!
- Informing families has put together a helpful guide to help you decide between an inclusive or specialized camp environment
- Seattle Children’s Hospital has compiled a directory of summer camp programs throughout Washington to help with your search - Notice: Due to funding there are no longer staff available to update this camp directory. This directory lists camps that were offered summer 2018. You will need to visit the individual camp websites to find out if summer camp is still being offered
- South Sound Summer Camp Guide
- If you are a DDA Client, ask your Case Manager for a list of contracted respite providers in your area. Read more about accessing respite care through DDA here
- Check with your city’s parks and recreation program for adaptive and inclusive day camp and recreation programs
If you are looking for options for getting active together you can also consider the following summer activities:
- State and Federal Parks Passes for People with Disabilities
- ADA Accessible State Parks
- Inclusive Playgrounds and Parks interactive Map
- Sports and Recreation resources for Children with Special needs
