The holidays are fast approaching. Are you planning on flying somewhere to spend time with loved ones? Do you or your child need assistance getting through airport security? Are you familiar with the TSA Cares program?
“TSA offers screening information and assistance to travelers upon request through TSA Cares at (855) 787-2227.TSA Cares is designed to assist travelers with disabilities and medical conditions and others who may need additional assistance with screening. TSA Cares is staffed, to provide travelers information on what to expect during the screening process, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET on weekends and holiday.”
My family and I have utilized the TSA Cares program several times and we have had a very positive experience with it. Airports vary by how they handle the program, but the support has always been very helpful to my son and our familyl. My son has a tough time standing in the long security lines. With TSA Cares, we have been able to coordinate a meeting with a TSA employee at the security checkpoint. They are able to help us bypass the normal lines and put us through security pretty quickly. In our experience, every time we go through screening via the TSA Cares program, the employee helping us has been patient, kind and made sure my son felt comfortable and supported.
If you haven’t utilized TSA Cares in the past, but are planning on traveling during the holiday season, I would strongly encourage you to check on this program.
