“When we were in crisis three years ago,” Cathy explains, “Trish Thrush reviewed an IEP on Christmas Eve so we had the support we needed. Now that our son is in a better spot, I’m giving back so WAAA staff can do what they do best — help families when they are in crisis.” Along with her own work and family commitments, Cathy spends countless hours helping WAAA and other families impacted by autism.
Even though Cathy is uncomfortable speaking in public, she feels, “empowered to talk with other parents about autism” with the intention of giving other parents hope that things can get better for their families.
“We are grateful for Cathy’s support and expertise,” enthuses WAAA CEO Arzu Forough. “Her energy and passion is making a real difference for WAAA.”
