The live event will be held Saturday, April 30, at Juanita High School
January 20, 2022 – The Washington Autism Alliance (WAA) today announced the in-person, safe, and responsible return of Day Out for Autism on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Juanita High School.
“After two years of Virtual Day Out for Autism, it’s time to bring back the real thing,” said Arzu Forough, founder and CEO of WAA. “Day Out for Autism is an inclusive, family-friendly celebration and resource fair that increases awareness of the need to expand access to healthcare, education, and services for people living with autism.”
It is a day to bring together stakeholders who want to make a difference in the autism community and celebrate the unique gifts that each individual and family touched with autism brings into their lives.
The 2022 event will be chaired by autism advocate Liz Smith.
“My 8-year-old son Matty is on the autism spectrum. From the time we received his diagnosis we have been advocating for his rights and the autism community around us. The opportunity to chair the 2022 Day Out for Autism event sounded like the perfect match for me,” said Liz Smith. “I’ve been collaborating with amazing people that share my love of building a support system and advocating for the autism community. What a great opportunity this is to give back to WAA, which has changed so many lives through philanthropy and love. This event will offer so many connections and resources to the autism community.”
“Day Out for Autism draws families living with autism and other developmental disabilities, caregivers, healthcare providers, educators, and community partners from across Washington state. Given that Day Out for Autism was a virtual event in 2020 and 2021, the autism community is eager to come together safely in a live setting and we expect over 500 participants,” Forough concluded.
