WAAA's Arzu Forough and Rajakumari Chellappa attended the Washington State Autism Advisory Council 2018 meeting this year on November 5, 2018, in Tukwila.
This year's meeting focused on "Improving health through Trauma-Informed Approaches for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Other Developmental Disabilities.”
Arzu participated on a panel about Trauma-Informed Approaches and Lived Experiences.
The council meeting ended with a roundtable group discussion and presentation from each group on their conclusions for compiling recommendations for achieving successful outcomes.

Discussion Question: What needs to happen in the Health Care setting and in our communities to reduce trauma experienced by individuals with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities, their families and caregivers?
Desired Outcome: As a group, come up with recommendations and strategies to achieve successful outcomes, and identify organizations and individuals needed to achieve them.
