Dating and looking for a loving relationship can bring excitement, but it can also bring some level of stress as a person navigates social interactions with someone you are just getting to know. For neurodivergent individuals looking for love, there may be additional obstacles to navigate in order to thrive in the dating scene. Nonetheless, a lot of individuals want to pursue romantic relationships and find their special someone.
Alex Hubbard is a neurodivergent member of our community actively looking for someone special to include in his life. He has dated both neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals. “I’m single and ready to be in a serious relationship,” he recently shared. Alex dated on and off throughout high school. Like most high school students, he enjoyed going on dates at the arcade, attending school dances and hanging out with the girl he was dating at her parent’s house.
Since high school, Alex has been looking to date and find love by going to raves, coffee shops and concerts. He says “It’s really tough dating on dating apps online”. He shared that he is shy and he can get nervous, but that dating “makes me a happy person. It makes me feel good”. Alex says what’s most important when dating, is finding someone he can trust, accept him for who he is and enjoy doing similar activities. For those that are just starting to navigate dating and finding love he says “Don’t be nervous, be brave”.Sounds like great advice!
