I joined the Washington Autism Alliance in 2025, bringing a blend of experience in neurodivergent advocacy and legal training. I am passionate about utilizing community engagement, legal expertise, and advocacy to foster connections. As a law student at Seattle University, I am excited to be working with the Washington Autism Alliance community to drive empowering change within the legislature.
Washington Equal Access to Justice Act
The Washington Equal Access to Justice Act would raise the cap for recovered attorney fees. If passed, attorneys who work on pro bono cases will have the opportunity to recover fees that accurately reflect their work and time. This would make a monumental impact on families because Special Education and Health Insurance attorneys will have more capacity to take on more clients who cannot afford to pay otherwise. This act will be discussed during the 2026 legislative session in Olympia, and I am looking forward to providing updates to our community.
Specialty Housing Contracts (Enhanced Behavior Specialty Contract)
I will work to continue the development and implementation of WAA’s most recent legislative victory, along with the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA): the creation of specialty housing contracts that will provide places for qualifying individuals to live independently while receiving the appropriate care, access to health, behavioral, and emergency services they may need. I passionately believe that every individual deserves to have a place to call home that meets their needs and allows them to feel safe and cared for.
As I continue our advocacy efforts with these specialty housing contracts, I need community members like you to make your voices heard and demonstrate the need for these vital resources for families. There are several ways you can get involved:
- Sharing your story with lawmakers
- Sign petitions
- Sharing advocacy updates online
- Join community events and rallies
