There are several legislative bills we are tracking this session that are vital to special education, healthcare and vitality of children with disabilities and their families. These include:
- HB 1051 - Permitting the recording of individualized education program team meetings.
- HB 1241 - Tighten evaluation timelines to avoid lengthy delays for schools to complete and evaluation
- HB 1257, SB 5253 - Extending special education services to students with disabilities until the end of the school year in which the student turns 22
- HB 1296 - Promoting a safe and supportive public education system, while preserving access to records parents/guardians need to develop IEPs
- HB 1310, SB 5307 - Fully Funding Equitable, High-Quality Services for All Students with Disabilities [Jan 22 at 1:30 PM, Scheduled for public hearing in the Senate Committee on Early Learning & K-12 Education]
- HB1200, SB5211 - Authorizing payment for parental caregivers of minor children with developmental disabilities.
- HB 1472, SB 5393 - Closure of the Yakima Valley school and Rainier school, two residential habilitation centers that provide services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
