Bills we're tracking this legislative session

There are several legislative bills we are tracking this session that are vital to special education, healthcare and vitality of children with disabilities and their families. These include:

  • HB 1051 - Permitting the recording of individualized education program team meetings.
  • HB 1241 - Tighten evaluation timelines to avoid lengthy delays for schools to complete and evaluation
  • HB 1257, SB 5253 - Extending special education services to students with disabilities until the end of the school year in which the student turns 22
  • HB 1296 - Promoting a safe and supportive public education system, while preserving access to records parents/guardians need to develop IEPs
  • HB 1310, SB 5307 - Fully Funding Equitable, High-Quality Services for All Students with Disabilities [Jan 22 at 1:30 PM, Scheduled for public hearing in the Senate Committee on Early Learning & K-12 Education]
  • HB1200, SB5211 - Authorizing payment for parental caregivers of minor children with developmental disabilities.
  • HB 1472, SB 5393 - Closure of the Yakima Valley school and Rainier school, two residential habilitation centers that provide services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
