Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment through Feb 15

button_visitHPF If you have an insurance plan (through an employer or elsewhere) that does not provide the benefits your child needs, you can purchase a plan now through February 15, 2015 on the Washington Health Benefit Exchange.

All HBE plans must cover habilitative and rehabilitative therapies (e.g. speech and OT); they must adhere to Washington state mental health parity law, and they must provide mental health treatments as one of the ten essential health benefits. Effective January 1st, most plans will be required to cover residential treatment, partial hospitilization and intensive outpatient treatments in parity with medical treatments. Washington has adopted ABA coverage as part of its HBE benefits, ABA must be covered.

Which plan should you buy? Think about what your child's been prescribed. If you have a preferred ABA or other therapy provider in mind, you will want to choose a plan that has that provider in-network.
